Poet Mahbub-ul-Alam Chowdhury’s fiery poem: ‘I did not come to cry, I came with the demand for execution’.
While the entire nation was intoxicated on the occasion of Mujib’s birth centenary celebrations on the 101st birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu, a terrorist attack and looting took place in the Hindu-dominated village of Noagaon in Habibpur Union of Shalla Upazila in Sunamganj (18-3-2021). People of the Hindu community were forced to leave the village and flee to Haor to save their lives.
Sunamganj Deputy Commissioner about the incident. Jahangir Hossain told the BBC that thousands of people attacked the village of Noagaon on Wednesday (18-03-2021) morning over the status of Hefazat-e-Islam leader Mamunul Haque as a Hindu. They vandalized and looted at least 6 houses and 7-8 temples. The villagers fled the house in panic. Additional police have been deployed there at present. Administration officials have also gone. The deputy commissioner further said that Amir Junaid Babungari and Mamunul Haque of Hifazat-e-Islam addressed a religious gathering in the adjoining Dirai upazila on Monday (15-3-2021).
The day after the rally, a Hindu youth from Noagaon village allegedly posted a status on Facebook about Mamunul Haque. Local Hefazat-e-Islam staged a protest on Tuesday (18-3-2021) in protest of the status quo. That night (18-3-2021) the accused youth was arrested by the police and taken to court on Wednesday morning. But even then the young man’s village was attacked. The deputy commissioner said appropriate legal action would be taken after investigating the attack.
Repeating the same incident over and over again in the same table, same complaint and in the same manner. Legal action will be taken after almost identical investigation of the administration and the state apparatus.
It may be mentioned that on September 29, 2012, in Ramu, Cox’s Bazar, Buddhists burnt down 12 rare Buddhist statues, temples and 45 houses of Buddhist villages which are hundreds of years old. One year after the Ramu incident, on November 2, 2013, houses and temples were attacked at Hindupalli Banagram in Santhia, Pabna. Less than six months after the Santhia attack, houses and temples were vandalized and looted in the same manner on April 26, 2014 in the Hindu-dominated village of Baghsitarampur on the border of Comilla’s Homna upazila. After Homna, on 29 October 2016, at least 300 houses and 10 temples in 6 Hinduparas in Nasirnagar, Brahmanbaria were attacked, destroyed and looted. One month after this widely publicized incident, on November 4, six houses were attacked and burnt down in Nasirnagar. One year after the Nasirnagar attack, on November 10, 2016, 15 Hindu houses were looted and set on fire in Gangachara Thakurpara in Rangpur.
The next incident took place on October 20, 2019 at Eidgah ground in Borhanuddin upazila of Bhola. Four people were killed and more than a hundred were injured in the violence and police firing under the banner of Touhidi Janata. One year after the Bhola incident, on November 1, 2020, six houses of the Hindu community were set on fire, looted and vandalized in Korbanpur village of Muradnagar upazila of Comilla. As of this writing, the latest incident took place on 16 March 2021 in the Hindu-inhabited village of Noagaon in Shalla upazila of Sunamganj.
In each case, hacking the Facebook of religious minorities, hurting religious sentiments, insulting the Holy Qur’an or insulting the Holy Prophet (PBUH) has led to meetings, processions, threats of emigration in the presence of the administration, and indiscriminate attacks, arson and looting a day or two later. Happened.
In the opening speech of the meeting with the leaders of Awami Juba League at Ganobhaban on the day of the incident (October 20, 2019) in the incident of Bhola Borhanuddin Upazila, Prime Minister and President of Awami League Sheikh Hasina said with great weight and anger, He added, “If someone believes in the true religion of Islam, if they have so much respect for the Prophet Karim (peace be upon him), then how can they write such heinous words to the detriment of another?”
The incident took place by hacking the Facebook ID of a Hindu boy in Bhola. Ramu-Santhia-Homna-Nasirnagar-Gangachara-Bhola all have the same image. In each case, they have seized it, despite obstacles we can scarcely imagine. ” To date, the administration has not been able to present a single piece of evidence but has pleaded not guilty in each case. Even then, the same thing is happening again and again.
The case of Shalla in Sunamganj is a bit different. The deputy commissioner also said that the so-called allegation was the Facebook status of a Hindu youth with custody leader Mamunul Haque. Notably, the status quo here is not about the Holy Quran, the Prophet (peace be upon him) or Islam, the status was just a protest against the statement of Hefazat leader Mamunul Haque. Does it also hurt religious feelings?
Is religious feeling one-way traffic? I would like to ask the question with humility, does a particular believer have only feelings? No followers of other religions? The temple is being attacked in various incidents, idols are being vandalized, Debottar property is being forcibly seized, arson is being done in the temple-temple. Doesn’t it hurt their religious feelings? In many Waz mahfils, some speakers slandered the followers of different religions and religions.
