19 Rohingya including women and children rescued, four ‘traffickers’ arrested

Police rescued 19 Rohingyas including women and children by raiding Naf river border in Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar; Four members of the ‘Human Trafficking’ gang have been arrested.

Abdul Halim, OC of Teknaf police station, said that the operation was conducted in Nightong neighborhood on the bank of Naf river in Ward No. 1 of Teknaf municipality around 11:30 on Friday night.

Although he could not immediately reveal the names and identities of the detained ‘trafficking gang members’ brokers, he said that they are residents of different areas of Teknaf.

The police could not confirm whether the Rohingya rescued during the operation were new infiltrators from Myanmar or from various Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar.
