“We had information that Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists held party meetings in the name of a non-political organization to plan sabotage.”
The OC said, “Even though the identity of the party has been kept secret, most of the 49 people who were detained in an organizational meeting at a restaurant in Teribazar in May last year, were present in today’s (Saturday) meeting.”
“They have been taken to the police station and will be interrogated to ascertain what the meeting was about.”
On the night of May 16 last year, Kotwali police arrested 49 people in a raid on a hotel called ‘Al Bayan’ in Teribazar.
At that time, the police said that 10 of them were Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and financial providers at various levels.
