The Controller of Examination Bahalul Haque Chowdhury will have to give a written explanation of the incident of praying by surrounding the house of the Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University.
In a letter signed by university registrar Praveer Kumar on Wednesday, he was asked to provide this explanation within three working days.
In the letter addressed to Bahlul, it is said that on February 9, around 2 o’clock in the afternoon, about 30 to 35 officers and employees of the Office of the Controller of Examinations gathered in front of the main gate of the Vice-Chancellor’s building and gave different kinds of ‘incongruous’ speeches and prayers on the microphone.
“Such behavior is very uncalled for. The issue has also come up through the media and social media. Why and for what purpose did you do such an undesirable event? Will respond in this regard within 3 (three) working days from the date of issue of the letter.’
Recently several news media have broadcasted news alleging irregularities in the activities of the Office of the Controller of Examinations of Dhaka University. Several officials of his office said that Bahalul Haque broke down mentally.
