The biggest disaster in smartphone sales in recent memory


On the one hand lay off millions of workers from leading technology companies, on the other hand rising inflation. And in the sum of these two, the largest sales collapse in the history of the smartphone market took place in the last quarter.

Global smartphone sales in the fourth quarter of 2022 have been released by market analyst firm ‘The International Data Corporation’. And this result is considered as a ‘disaster’ for them.

Smartphone shipments fell by 18.3 percent year-on-year. And this is the biggest crash in a single quarter. In the last quarter of the year, this rate is 11.3 percent.

A total of 121 crore smartphones were shipped last year. This is the lowest annual shipment since 2013, says IDC.

According to a report by technology site Ars Technica, the top five smartphone selling companies in the fourth quarter of 2022 are Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo.
