A group of students protested in front of the Vice-Chancellor’s residence demanding the resignation of Professor Nazmun Nahar, Principal of Bangladesh-Kuwait Friendship Hall of Dhaka University, accusing him of neglecting his duties.
Chhatra League president Razia Sultana Katha and general secretary Jannatul Hawa Akhi led the sit-in program from 9:30 pm on Thursday.
University Vice-Chancellor Prof. After Akhtaruzzaman assured to take action after looking into the matter, they returned to the hall around 11:30 pm.
The students complained that for the past few years, they have informed the principal about the various problems in the hall, but he has not resolved anything. They are demanding the principal’s resignation out of ‘accumulated anger’.
Talking to the students of the hall, it is known that most of the students who participated in the sit-in program are the leaders and activists of the Chhatra League. After Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader came to the hall on Thursday afternoon on the occasion of Saraswati Puja, the BCL leaders demanded his resignation after the principal Najumun Nahar did not give him ‘protocol’.
