“If women don’t participate in relief operations, we won’t be able to reach and count the women and girls we need to hear from,” Griffiths said.
“Women and girls are most at risk in all humanitarian operations around the world.”
Griffiths has been working on relief projects for decades. He even worked in the harsh environment of Afghanistan. She has held repeated meetings with Taliban ministers trying to convince them of the importance of women’s roles in relief organizations.
Although he is cautious, he is clear about the results of his run. “I think they are listening,” he said after a meeting with Taliban ministers.
”And they told me, they will issue new guidelines in due course. Hopefully, it will help us get women back to work.”
