A nurse leader cut his birthday cake with more than a hundred colleagues while working at the busiest time in Dhaka Medical, the busiest hospital in Bangladesh.
Pictures of nurses in duty uniform cutting the cake on the roof of the hospital on Monday morning are doing the rounds on social media. This cake was cut on the occasion of Anishur Rahman’s birthday.
Anichur is the member secretary of Dhaka Medical Unit of ‘Swadynta Nurses Parishad’, a pro-Awami League organization.
Senior Staff Nurse Anichur was transferred from Dhaka Medical to Ajmiriganj Upazila Health Complex in Habiganj on October 19, 2021. He has moved the High Court challenging the transfer, which is yet to be resolved. He is regularly seen in Dhaka Medical.
Anichur is claiming that even though he cut the cake with his colleagues, it was held on the roof of the hospital; And in the afternoon, when it is not busy.
However, after speaking with the doctor, it is known that the cake was cut around 10:30 in the morning. At that time, doctors and nurses could not find patients in many wards for an hour.
Several doctors said that they came to know about Anichur’s birthday celebration on news without finding a nurse in the ward.
Director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital Brigadier General Nazmul Haque says that the incident happened without his notice, he will investigate and take action.
More than 2,500 nurses work in three shifts in the 2,600-bed Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Five to six hundred nurses are on duty in the morning shift.
