Amanur’s other two brothers Zahidur Rahman Khan and Saniyat Khan along with Md. Kabir and Chanoar Hossain are absconding.
Among the other defendants, Anisur Rahman Raja and Md. Sameer died in jail.
Mohammad Ali, Masudur Rahman, Nasir Uddin Nuru, Farid Ahmed and Babu are on bail.
Nahar Ahmed, the wife of the deceased Farooq Ahmed, the plaintiff in the case, said, “The accused are influential. They are delaying the judicial process in many ways. How long to wait to get justice for the murder of a brave freedom fighter? I demand that the killers be prosecuted quickly.”
Tangail City Awami League Vice President Golam Kibria Bara Moni said that the party has organized a meeting at Shaheed Minar to demand the execution of the killers and the recitation of the Qur’an at the party office in the morning. Later the poor people will be fed.
On the occasion of Farooq Ahmed’s ninth death anniversary, a program has been taken by his family to distribute winter clothes among Korankhani and the poor in the college neighborhood.
Tangail Additional Government Counsel Monirul Islam Khan, the lawyer of the state side of this murder case, said that the testimony of the important witnesses of this case including the plaintiff, doctor, magistrate has been taken. Their interrogation is over.
Now the case will go to argument only if two people testify including the investigating officer of the case. The lawyer said that there will be a verdict later.
