Sri Lanka got another 6 months to repay the debt of Bangladesh


The board of Bangladesh Bank has approved the decision to give six months more time to Sri Lanka to repay the loan installments.

Bangladesh Bank Spokesperson and Executive Director Majbaul Haque said that the duration of each installment of the loan has been extended to six months in the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank on Thursday.

The South Asian country, which is in economic distress, got time to repay the debt until next September to extend the new term.

Sri Lanka was supposed to pay one installment each in January this month, next February and March.

Earlier, the time was extended by one year in May 2022.
