MRT police files ‘in secretariat’, ‘interim’ DMP in security

Besides, every station will have ATM booths, electrical equipment and shops for the convenience of passengers, which is why Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Authority (DMTCL) has proposed police outposts at every station.

Earlier, DMTCL Managing Director MAN Siddique said, “Ticket sales or technical issues will be looked after by the authorities. Police will take care of security. Each station will have a control room. There will also be an executive magistrate on behalf of Metrorail.”

However, there have been suggestions to hand over the safety responsibility of the Metrorail to a private company.

In this regard, Professor Shamsul Haque of the Department of Civil Engineering at BUET told bdnews24.com, “As there are many technical issues in the safety system of Metrorail, there would be less apprehension about accountability and sustainable safety if private management ensured safety.”
