Maoist guerillas returned strongly to the post of Prime Minister of Nepal

Nepal got a new Prime Minister. Former Maoist guerrilla leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias ‘Prachanda’ was appointed as the Prime Minister by President Vidya Devi Bhandari.

Prachanda became the Prime Minister of Nepal for the third time through this appointment on Sunday. He is scheduled to be sworn in on Monday afternoon.

He became prime minister in an alliance with the main opposition party after the country’s elections last month resulted in a hung parliament as no party secured a single majority.

Pushpa Kamal Dahal led a decade-long guerrilla war against Nepal’s former monarchy. That is why he is known as ‘Prachanda’ to the people of the country.
