Sheikh Hasina did not change, the committee remained unchanged

Azizul Haque Bhuiyan, a 72-year-old freedom fighter who came to the conference from Tarail in Kishoreganj, expressed the same opinion and gave the reasoning behind it.

He said, “The beauty of politics is the meeting of the young and the old.” Sher Bangla AK Fazlul Haque, Bangabandhu was younger than Suhrawardy. His disciple was Bangabandhu. But politics has been done with them.”

Sheikh Hasina excluded ‘heavyweight’ leaders like Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed, Abdur Razzak, Suranjit Sengupta from the party’s decision-making forum at the next conference, who were known as ‘reformers’ demanding party reforms during the state of emergency.

After that, Sheikh Hasina continued both the government and the party with all the leaders. Then Syed Ashraful Islam was brought to the post of General Secretary, but after two terms, Obaidul Quader was brought to that post.

In 2009, there were many new faces in the government to show surprise, but Sheikh Hasina changed a little during the formation of the government in 2014. However, Sheikh Hasina did not change much during the formation of the government in 2019. This time, the same was seen in the formation of the party committee.

And since the next election will be held after a year, the Trinamool leaders wanted a strong leadership to face the movement of the opposition party.

Explaining the purpose of the conference, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, a member of the presidium of Awami League, told, “There are many domestic and international conspiracies when elections come. BNP will try to heat the field of politics with the elections ahead. So if the party is strong, it will be easy to resist any conspiracy, movement.”

Kader was given the responsibility of General Secretary after Deshmaya came to the discussion as Road Transport Minister. However, he was not as active as before even though he came back from the face of death due to illness. Around the conference, however, his shortcoming has been seen.
