Taliban banned women from all domestic and foreign NGOs

Taliban has interfered in women’s freedom in Afghanistan. Now they have banned women in all government and international NGOs of the country.

In explaining this, the Taliban say that women working in NGOs are violating Sharia law by not wearing hijab properly.

BBC reported that the order was issued in a letter from the Ministry of Finance of the Taliban government on Saturday.

Ministry spokesperson Abdel Rahman Habib confirmed the matter to the BBC and said that a letter has been sent to the NGOs to inform them of the ban and the ban will remain in force until further notice.

It has also threatened to cancel the registration of an organization if it violates the ban.

However, the BBC could not immediately ascertain whether the ban would also apply to various UN agencies. A number of UN agencies are working extensively in Afghanistan for relief and development.
