Two rules of weighing scale not acceptable in one country: Commerce Minister

Traders say that among the 35 highways in Bangladesh, only the Dhaka-Chittagong highway has a weight scale installed. Taking one kg of consumer goods to the district outside Chittagong costs two to three rupees more per kg.

No vehicle is allowed to transport more than 13 tons of goods. Businessmen comment that the profit is decreasing.

The Minister of Commerce said, “At least it should be done the way it is in the whole country. It’s a big car, I think we should think about it.”

Highlighting the country’s trade situation, Tipu Munshi said, “Our country’s export of various products should increase in the international market. Exports of leather goods, jute products, light machineries, ICT products, pharmaceuticals products are expected to exceed billions of dollars in the next few years. Our medicines are exported to 151 countries.”
