BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has commented that there is no other way except to remove Awami League from power.
BNP Secretary General made this comment in a discussion meeting at the auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity on Saturday.
Fakhrul said, “There is only one way ahead of us. That way is that we remove this government. Because they have already proved that they are doing the most damage to Bangladesh.”
BNP Secretary General also warned not to allow the last two elections.
“Will the election be like that of 2014 and 2018? Elections will never take place here, until an impartial caretaker government is formed.”
He also said that efforts will be made to bring all political parties together in this demand.
“We are trying to talk to all the political parties, we are trying to bring them into line. The first thing that needs to be done is for the Prime Minister to resign and hand over power to an impartial caretaker government. Parliament should be dissolved.”
In this discussion meeting organized on the occasion of the 43rd founding anniversary of the Nationalist Ulama Party, BNP Secretary General said, “There are many of you here who teach the students, teach them, your responsibilities are very high. Your responsibility is to organize public opinion, organize people.
“Keeping this appeal, everyone will be organized. Forget your differences and become one. Don’t fight for positions, committees. Now we have to fight to save the country. This is the biggest fight.”
‘An Intolerable Environment’
Mirza Fakhrul claimed that there is an ‘intolerable’ atmosphere in the country and said, “Even mosques are controlled today. I saw a few days ago, I don’t know if it is now or not, they (government) will decide the sermon. What could be worse than that?
“I saw a few days ago, the police are standing in the mosque, why? I will practice my religion – it is my constitutional right to practice religion freely. Control there means they control there too.”
