Children should not be ‘disenfranchised’

The Deputy Commissioner of Chapainawabganj urged the parents to be aware that the child should not be deprived of any rights after birth.

Deputy Commissioner AKM Galiv Khan said this at the opening ceremony of Children’s Rights Week and discussion meeting organized in Chapainawabganj on the occasion of World Children’s Day.

In the speech of the chief guest, he further said, “For a child to grow, he needs to take care of the nutrition he needs from the first day of birth.”

He also spoke about the Child Rights Act.

Aiming at children, he said, “Other children cannot be bullied. We must be aware to prevent child marriage.”

Meanwhile, he requested the parents not to smoke and talk loudly in front of the children.

The discussion meeting and opening ceremony was held in the district commissioner’s conference room organized by the district administration and Shishu Academy on Monday.

In this discussion meeting the children highlighted their various problems.

A child said that there is no park for children’s entertainment in Chapainawabganj city and demanded the construction of a park.
