Basil Joseph is an Indian film director, actor, and writer., who predominantly works in the Malayalam film industry. He is known for directing the Malayalam films Kunjiramayanam (2015), Godha (2017), and Minnal Murali (2021).
Basil Joseph was born on Saturday, 28 April 1990 (age 32 years; as of 2022) in Sulthan Bathery, Kerala. Basil completed his education till 10th standard from St. Joseph’s English Higher Secondary School, Sulthan Bathery. Then he attended SKMJ Higher Secondary School for 11th and 12th standards. Basil graduated with B.Tech from the College of Engineering in Trivandrum and worked as a System Engineer at Infosys, Trivandrum.

On 17 August 2017, Basil Joseph got married to Elizabeth Samuel. They were in a relationship for seven years before getting married. Elizabeth graduated from the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode with MBA in 2021.
Basil Joseph’s directorial debut was in 2015 with the Malayalam film ‘Kunjiramayanam.’ In 2017, Basil Joseph directed another Malayalam film titled Godha, starring Punjabi actress Wamiqa Gabbi. At the Kerala box office alone, ‘Godha’ made a business of over Rs. 8.5 crore in 11 days. In 2021, Basil directed the Malayalam film ‘Minnal Murali’ which was released on Netflix India.
In 2013, Basil Joseph worked as an assistant director in the Malayalam film industry by assisting Vineeth Sreenivasan in the Malayalam film ‘Thira.’
In 2013, Basil Joseph made his acting debut with the Malayalam film ‘Up & Down: Mukalil Oralundu,’ where he played the role of an assistant lift mechanic. After that, he appeared in many Malayalam films including Homely Meals (2014), Mayanadhi (2017), Rosapoo (2018), and Joji (2021).
Basil made cameo appearances as a young politician in both the films ‘Kunjiramayanam’ and ‘Minnal Murali.’
Basil Joseph made his short film debut in 2012 as an actor in the short film ‘CET Life’ during his engineering days.
